Anthony Scaramucci Applauds US-Saudi Arabia Relationship

The American financier and entrepreneur Anthony Scaramucci reiterated that the U.S.-Saudi relationship is a “Catholic marriage”

Scaramucci made the remarks in the latest episode of “Frankly Speaking,” the weekly current affairs talk show of Arab News that engages with leading policymakers and business leaders.

Scaramucci briefly served as the White House Director of Communications for a short 10 days from July 21 to July 31, 2017, under then-president Donald Trump.

The American financier has previously called the U.S.-Saudi ties as “crucial.” He that the two countries are like a “catholic marriage.”

“I called it a Catholic marriage. We can fight with each other, but we are staying permanently married. Whatever the interregnum rubs are between the sovereigns, they are temporary. We need each other.”

Scaramucci said that the U.S. and Saudi Arabia have been intertwined for the past 80 to 90 years in their economies, governments, intelligence communities, and defense departments. He encouraged the governments of the U.S., UAE, and Saudi Arabia to consider the long-lasting relationship, and how cooperation between the countries is prosperous.

Scaramucci was attending the second Investopia conference in Abu Dhabi. He touched on a wide range of topics, including the economic opportunities in the Middle East, and plans to take the SALT thought-leadership forum to Riyadh.

Scaramucci applauded Saudi Arabia’s reforms, especially in green energy and tourism energy. He said that the reforms are both diversifying the economy and creating a positive environment for foreign direct investment.

“We have a great partnership with the government. Our groups work very well together, and it’s a very interesting hybrid between a … sort of a public entity, a governmental entity, and a private enterprise. The synergies there are quite good. And so, I am hopeful that it will be a long-lasting relationship,” Scaramucci said.
