Greg Abbot, the Governor of Texas has vetoed part of state budget that finances the legislative branch on Friday, Fox News informed.
The move follows his threats from last month after Democrats has blocked the vote on a Republican-backed election legislation.
Abbott has vetoed the funding several weeks after House Democrats from Texas broke the quorum by walking off the floor before the planned voting on Senate Bill 7. Due to the their move, the lawmakers were not able to hold the vote on the election legislation.
Democrats from Texas blasted Abbott when he first announced his plans to veto the funding, claiming that the budget article also funds staffers such as maintenance and clerical workers.
