Big Saudi Green Forums to Be Held Alongside COP27

Two high-profile Saudi green forums will take place alongside the United Nations climate change summit, being held this year in Egypt in November.

The Middle East Green Initiative Summit and the Saudi Green Initiative Forum will be held in tandem with the annual global Climate Change Conference, known as Cop 27 this year.

It is the second edition of both massive green initiatives. Both have been spearheaded by Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The Middle East Green Initiative Summit will be held on Nov. 7, and the Saudi Green Initiative Forum will be held on Nov. 11-12.

The Crown Prince thanked Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Egyptian government for hosting the MGI Summit and SGI Forum in Egypt in tandem with COP 27.

COP brings together nations and leaders from around the world together to advance global climate ambitions. This year, COP 27 will build on the outcomes of COP 26 to take action and tackle the climate emergency.

A massive part of that is for countries to reduce their emissions and go greener.

The MGI Summit is a strategic regional platform that promotes cross-border cooperation, knowledge exchange, and discussion between heads of state, relevant government ministers, and policymakers.

The SGI Forum will convene an elite lineup of climate experts and thought leaders to discuss the progress that has been made toward achieving the climate targets announced by Saudi Arabia last year.

The theme of the Forum this year is “From ambition to action.” It is all about turning green targets into reality by catalyzing collective action to confront climate challenges that impact the entire world.

MGI and SGI were launched by the Crown Prince in 2021 to enhance Saudi Arabia’s environmental action, in line with the Kingdom’s Saudi Vision 2030.
