Former US Sec of State Pompeo Says Military Too Weak to Face China, Russia

Former Secretary of State and former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency under former president Donald Trump, Mike Pompeo, said the American military is too ‘weak’ and woke to face threats from China and Russia.

In a scathing op-ed in Fox News, Pompeo blasted the Biden administration for returning to the Obama-era foreign policy, claiming it leads from behind rather than from the front with strength.

Pompeo slammed “wokeness” in the military. He claimed that military training “must never be corrupted to serve political ends” and that doing so will put the country at risk.

“Under the Biden administration, warfighting doctrines are being replaced — even at the training level — with doctrines of diversity, equity, and inclusion,” Pompeo said.

Pompeo has a military background. He attended West Point, served as a cavalry officer in West Germany, and served with the 2nd Squadron, 7th Cavalry in the U.S. Army’s 4th Infantry Division.

Pompeo cautioned against efforts at the Air Force Academy to remove gendered terms and a fellowship program that promotes excluding men.

Conservative talking heads lashed out recently when the Air Force Academy told cadets to avoid using gendered terms.

Pompeo has called the actions by the Air Force Academy part of a “repackaged Marxist dogma” and slammed President Joe Biden’s leadership as commander in chief, saying, “A woke military is a weak military.”

Last month, Pompeo said he had a new mission to battle “a woke military.” The campaign includes a new website and two ads released by CAVFUND, a non-profit group set up by Pompeo.

In this week’s op-ed, Pompeo called for an increase in spending levels for the military as well. He said more spending is needed to deter China and Russia.

America has one of the biggest funded militaries in the world.
