Erdogan Claims Europe is in Panic Over Russia-Ukraine War

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan claimed on Sunday that EU member countries and other European countries are in a state of panic over the influx of refugees stemming from Ukraine as a result of the Ukraine-Russia war.

Emphasizing that they are praying for a prompt exit from the critical period that the world is currently facing, Erdogan averred that Turkey has been successfully coping with illegal migration originating from Syria for 11 years.

The statement of the Turkish president comes as the war between Russia and Ukraine crossed 100 days during which, according to a report published on Friday by the United Nations crisis coordinator for Ukraine and the assistant secretary-general, Amin Awad, nearly 14 million Ukrainians have been displaced, and six million of them are believed to have fled to neighboring countries.

In addition to Russia, among the top destinations for Ukrainian refugees are the EU member states such as Poland, Romania, and Hungary.

Stressing that the system that the West has built to protect its own security and wellbeing is crumbling, Erdogan also argued during his address on Sunday that a major reform of the UN Security Council is needed, pointing out that Earth is bigger than those five nations.

According to him, Western countries will eventually adopt the suggestions Ankara has been making for years in this respect.

Meanwhile, the Turkish president noted that while the world continues to face struggles with economic difficulties and security crisis, Turkey has been making use of its potential the most.

He underscored that while the promises that Turkey has been given over membership in the European Union have not been fulfilled, Ankara has been able to make revolutions in democracy and freedom, adding that Turkey will continue to take measures to ensure that none of its citizens feel abandoned and asserting that they’ll continue to work on their foreign policies with regard to Syria, Iraq, Libya, Karabakh, and the Balkans.
