NSA Advisor Says Russia Can Face “Severe Consequences” over Chemical Weapons Allegations

According to White House NSA Advisor Jake Sullivan, the US and its allies are prepared to inflict “serious repercussions” on Russia if it deploys chemical and biological weapons in Ukraine, despite international worries that Moscow may be creating a pretext to do so, The Hill reports.

Sullivan declined to publicly describe the particular penalties that Russia would suffer if it used biochemical weapons in Ukraine during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Russia has been pushing a false notion that the US and Ukraine are creating chemical weapons since last week. These assertions have been labeled “outright falsehoods” and “utter rubbish” by the US State Department.

According to Sullivan, the US would try to dissuade Russia from launching a false-flag operation in Ukraine by making it plain that any chemical weapons used in Ukraine will be Russian.

In addition to the NSA Advisor, Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said there is presently no information that Russia is planning a chemical assault.
