Liz Cheney Agrees with Fellow GOP Member on Trump Tyrant Comments

Rep. Liz Cheney said on Sunday that she agreed with a fellow Republican congressman who described former President Donald Trump as a “would-be tyrant,” The Hill reports.

After a gathering in South Carolina on Saturday, Rep. Tom Rice denounced Trump, labeling him a “disaster” and a “would-be tyrant.” Trump, according to Rice, is “consumed by spite.”

Following the Jan. 6 Capitol incident, Rice and Cheney were two of the ten Republican House members who voted for Trump’s impeachment.

Trump has sponsored Republican primary opponents in the re-election campaigns of both Liz Cheney and Tom Rice this year, seeking retaliation against Republican members who have spoken out against him.

State Rep. Russell Fry, Rice’s Republican primary opponent, appeared at Trump’s campaign in South Carolina on Saturday evening. Rice chastised Fry, accusing him of siding with a “would-be tyrant at the expense of the Constitution.”
