Former US President Barack Obama went to the Virginia Commonwealth University on Saturday to support the Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe in the tight race for Governor of Virginia, Fox News informed.
Obama encourage all residents of Virginia to head to the polls and cast their votes.
A McAuliffe supporter then booed when Obama mentioned Glenn Youngkin, who is his first opponent, but Obama said that booing won’t do anything and that everyone should get early and cast their votes.
McAuliffe and Obama encouraged voters to head early to the polls because the race between the candidates is very tight.
McAuliffe who once served as a governor of Virginia from 2014 until 2018, now faces fierce pressure to keep a governor from the democratic lines in the office.
According to a poll conducted by Monmouth University, both Youngkin and McAuliffe enjoy the same percentage of support of 46% of the registered voters.
