United States President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have been avoiding cameras while Kabul, Afghanistan’s capital, was overtaken by the Taliban forces on Saturday and Sunday, Fox News informed.
Biden went on vacation for the weekend at Camp David while the situation in Afghanistan has slightly worsened.
The President has only released a written statement about the recent occurrences in Afghanistan but did not appear on camera to assure the US citizens about the handling of the situation, while news broke that the staff in the Kabul’s US embassy were destroying documents and are even lowering down the US flag.
He will have to speak to the cameras after the news broke that the President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani has fled the country and after Taliban forces took over the presidential palace.
According to a senior administration official, Biden is set to address the nation in the next few days to talk about the ongoing occurrences in Afghanistan.
One member of Congress said that they have heard more from the Taliban forces, than from the US President.
GOP Congress members blasted President Biden for taking a vacation in such a tumultuous moment.
Republican Representative Michael McCaul from Texas said for CNN that this action will be a stain on the presidency of Biden, adding that he thinks there will be blood on his hands for the actions taken.
Republican Representative Jim Jordan asked why Joe Biden is right now on vacation and criticized him for not answering questions for media outlets amid a very frightening situation.
Republican Senator Tom Cotton from Arkansas also criticized US President Joe Biden and asked why is he hiding.
Lauren Boebert, a Republican Representative from Colorado, blamed the US President for dereliction of duty, while Jim Banks and Elise Stefanik also blasted Biden for not appearing anywhere and vacationing.
Banks spoke on a conference call to brief members of the Congress, saying that the Biden administration was caught off guard and that they did not anticipate this horrific scenario, while the President is still not taking any action.
