Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez agreed to the calls of some progressive organizations and also some of the Democrats in Congress, that Stephen Breyer, the Supreme Court Justice should step down by the end of term of the court, Fox News informed.
The New York Representative most famously known as member of the progressive democrat group “the Squad,” received a question in “State of the Union” on CNN, if Justice Breyer should retire from his post.
Ocasio-Cortez said that although she might give it more time to answer, she is definitely more inclined to say yes.
Some of the progressives are calling for Breyer to retire in this moment, as the Democrats have full control of the White House and also in the Senate, which approves Justice to the Supreme Court. This would mean that the Justice can be easily succeeded by a younger but like-minded progressive judge.
In the same interview on CNN, the host Dana Bash asked the progressive representative if she stands in line with the remarks of another democratic Rep. Mondaire Jones who called on Breyer to step down in April. Ocasio-Cortez said that she believed that Jones might has a point in his call.
