The Chinese Embassy in Saudi Arabia and the Center for Landscaping and Desertification Prevention of Saudi Arabia held a joint tree planting event to jointly promote the concept of green development, expressing support for the Saudi Green Initiative and the Green Initiative Middle East, Chinese media reported.
The tree saplings were planted by representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Saudi Arabia, Chinese enterprises in Saudi Arabia, and the Saudi Arabia Center for Landscaping and Prevention of Desertification.
During the event, the Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Chen Weiqing said that climate change and environmental management are global issues and that both China and Saudi Arabia are pioneers in environmental protection. “China will jointly with Saudi Arabia make efforts to form a community of human life and nature,” the Chinese ambassador said.
Two months ago, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said that his country plans to launch the Saudi Green Initiative, together with the Green Middle East Initiative. These initiatives are aimed at strengthening environmental protection in the country and the region as a whole.
