Democratic Representative Steve Cohen criticized President Donald Trump’s Sunday tweet as а response to the Russian election meddling, calling the president “eunuch in chief.”
“He is owned by Russia and the USA doesn’t have a commander in chief in this Information war! we have been attacked and we have a eunuch in chief!” Cohen tweeted. The term eunuch generally refers to a man who has been castrated.
According to The Hill, the Tennessee congressman has ripped Trump as “the most despicable human being ever” to serve as president and announced last year that he would introduce articles of impeachment against Trump after the president’s response to the racially charged violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Cohen’s new comments come in response to a series of tweets over the weekend by Trump, where he bashed into the federal and congressional probes into Russian election meddling.
“If it was the GOAL of Russia to create discord, disruption and chaos within the U.S. then, with all of the Committee Hearings, Investigations and Party hatred, they have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams,” Trump tweeted. “They are laughing their asses off in Moscow. Get smart America!”
The president also mentioned the FBI’s failure to act on the warnings they received about Nikolas Cruz, who killed 17 people at a south Florida high school last week.
The Hill also reported that special counsel Robert Mueller announced the indictments of over a dozen Russians in the federal probe on Friday, fanning the flames of the already hotly debated investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
Also, after Trump mentioned Schiff in one of the tweets over the weekend, the Democratic lawmaker fired back at the president, asking:
“If [H.R.] McMaster can stand up to Putin, why can’t you?” Schiff was referring to Trump’s national security adviser, who over the weekend said the recent indictments show that Russian election meddling “is now incontrovertible.”
