Joseph Flynn, the brother of former national security adviser Michael Flynn, said in a tweet that Trump should pardon Michael for his guilty plea as he “has taken the biggest fall,” Newsweek informs.
“About time you pardoned General Flynn who has taken the biggest fall for all of you given the illegitimacy of this confessed crime in the wake of all this corruption,’’ Joseph tweeted, but the post was deleted after about 15 minutes. Trump had previously posted his own tweet, complaining about Mueller’s probe and claiming the Russia dossier was false. Later, Joseph tweeted again to Trump and repeated his plea.
“Mr. President, I personally believe that a pardon is due to General Flynn, given the apparent and obvious illegitimacy of the manner in which the so-called ‘crimes’ he pleaded guilty to were extracted from him,” he wrote. “I ask for quick action on this. Thank you and keep up the good work!” he concluded.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders recently said that she was not aware of discussions of a pardon. Afterwards, Trump noted that he did not want to talk about pardons for his former national security adviser. The Washington Post reported in July that Trump had asked his advisers about his authority to pardon.
In the meantime, Republican Congressman Louis Gohmert criticized the FBI special counsel appointed to investigate alleged ties between Russia and Trump’s campaign and said that ‘’he’s bad news and out for a scalp.’’ The Republican also said that Robert Mueller would love to become a hero of the left. Mueller’s integrity and fairness were Gohmert’s next target as he went through a laundry list of reasons as to why he has serious questions about the legitimacy of the Russia probe, Newsweek reports.
Gohmert also criticized FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.
