Former press secretary of the White House Sean Spicer made a threat to take legal action against a journalist who e-mailed and texted him questions, the reporter said Thursday.
Axios informs that the former press secretary took detailed notes at the Republican National Convention (RNC) meetings, during the Trump campaign, and at the White House. According to the news outlet, citing an anonymous source, Spicer had everything documented.
Mike Allen, reporter at Axios noted in his morning newsletter that he texted Spicer for details on his note-taking and, the former White House press secretary responded by asking the reporter to “stop texting/emailing me unsolicited anymore,” The Hill reported.
Allen reportedly responded with a “?”
“Not sure what that means,” Spicer wrote in response, according to Allen.
“From a legal standpoint, I want to be clear: Do not email or text me again. Should you do again I will report to the appropriate authorities.”
Spicer responded similarly to an email sent by the reporter, Allen said.
“Please refrain from sending me unsolicited texts and emails,” Spicer reportedly wrote.
“Should you not do so I will contact the appropriate legal authorities to address your harassment.”
Earlier in September, The Washington Post said that Special Counsel Robert Mueller told the White House his team would seek to interview six senior and former aides to President Trump, including Spicer.
According to sources close to the investigation, the aides were engaged in internal talks linked to incidents that Mueller has been interested in, one of which – Trump’s move earlier this year to oust former Director of FBI, James Comey.
Earlier this month, Spicer faced backlash following a surprise appearance at the Emmy Awards on Sunday, where he mocked the size of the crowd at Trump’s inauguration.
