U.S. Seals Reportedly Train South Korean Team How to Act in Case of War

The elite U.S. Navy Seals team that took out Osama bin Laden in Pakistan is training a South Korean assassination squad to kill North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, The Times of London reports.

The news comes as tensions continue to rise between North Korea and the U.S. following Pyongyang’s most powerful nuclear test this past weekend of a hydrogen bomb capable of being fitted onto an intercontinental ballistic missile.

President Donald Trump last month warned North Korea would be met with “fire and fury” if it continued to make threats, but Kim Jong Un was persistent even after the United Nations agreed to its strictest sanctions yet on North Korea, maintaining his nuclear weapons program was necessary to deter a U.S. invasion.

The South Korean assassination team, which will be launched in December, will allegedly work with Seal Team Six, the group that killed Al-Qaeda leader bin Laden in 2011.

“We are in the process of conceptualizing the plan. I believe we can create the unit by December 1.” Song Young-moo, the defense minister, told MPs, according to the Times.

Song also added that he would like the United States to consider redeploying nuclear weapons to the peninsula as threats from North Korea intensify.
