At a time when a number of Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill have condemned President Joe Biden’s open checkbook for Kyiv, GOP Rep. Paul Gosar, one of the loudest critics of the Biden administration’s Ukraine policy, has called on Washington to cut foreign aid to Ukraine.
Arguing that US taxpayer’s money is being used to fund a conflict that the US should have “no involvement in,” Gosar tweeted on Monday that ‘Biden and his crime family’ may owe Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but ‘America doesn’t owe him a damn thing.’
The remark regarding the alleged favor President Biden’s ‘crime family’ might owe the Ukrainian president is likely a reference to the speculations that Zelensky helped Biden win the 2020 election win by refusing former President Donald Trump’s request to reopen a corruption investigation into Biden’s son’s lucrative position on the board of a Ukrainian energy firm.
A staunch anti-interventionist and a member of the Republican Party’s unofficial ‘America First’ caucus, the Arizona congressman believes Washington is not acting in its self-interest during the ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis.
Branding the aid ‘America Last policy’, Rep. Gosar voted against a $40 billion military and economic aid package for Kyiv in May and, last month, against the spending bill that allocates another $12 billion for Kyiv.
The Arizona congressman is not alone in GOP ranks in calling on the Democratic and Republican parties to cut the cash and arms pipeline to Ukraine.
Previously on Sunday, Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz stressed that the aid to Ukraine is diverting assistance from his constituents in his hurricane-ravaged home state of Florida and that maintaining an international money laundering Mecca in Ukraine isn’t worth the nuclear war threat and that
Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has also warned last week that US aid to Kyiv has drastically driven up the cost of living all over the world and killed thousands of innocent people.
