By pressing forward with his repeal of Title 42, Rep. Henry Cuellar claims that President Biden is hurting Democrats ahead of the November elections while also assisting the cartels, Fox News informed.
Cuellar, a Democrat from Texas, is one of many Democrats seeking reelection who have criticized the decision of the Biden administration to stop an immigration policy from the pandemic era that made it easier to deport migrants rapidly.
Senators Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., and Maggie Hassan, D-New Hampshire, are among his supporters, as are Democratic Senate contenders in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Ohio, Florida, and Wisconsin.
On this topic, a number of House Democrats are breaking ranks with the administration.
Cuellar said that this will not be good for the Democrats on the midterms in November, saying that even Republican colleagues cannot believe that the White House leads a narrative that will eventually damage the Democratic Party on upcoming midterms.
Cuellar, on the other hand, warned that Biden’s management of the border had repercussions that go beyond electoral politics.
There are ramifications for border communities, particularly his South Texas constituents, as well as criminal groups that will benefit from the ruling, he said.
Cuellar said that the repeal of Title 42 will only benefit some criminal organizations who can then promote this by saying that border is wide open, while making a lot of money out of it.
The White House is underlining that the decision to repeal Title 42, which will take effect on May 23, was made with clear eyes.
Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House’s principal deputy press secretary, said on Thursday that resources will be deployed to deal with the expected spike.
Jean-Pierre said that the DHS is currently working on a wholesome strategy that will address the potential spike in border encounters.
In the meantime, Republicans are denouncing the administration’s decision and vowing to challenge it in court and in Congress.
