The US House of Representatives adopted a legislation to ban from Capitol the bust of Roger Brooke Taney, a Supreme Court Chief Justice who was behind a pro-slavery decision, Fox News informed.
Despite the bust, the legislation also covers other Confederate statues that would be removed.
The bill was supported by both sides of the aisle and was passed with 285 to 120, after speeches on the floor on issues such as how white supremacists have no place in the Congress halls.
The House of Representatives last year passed a similar measure to ban and remove the statues of Gen. Robert E. Lee as well as other Confederate figures on a 305 to 113 vote, but the bill did not pass in the then Republican-controlled Senate and the White House.
