Democratic Representative Ted Lieu slammed the Catholic Church saying that American bishops are “hypcrites” and “nakedly partisan” for wanting to amend the Communion guidance which is aimed at rebuking political figures such as US President Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for their support of the abortion policies, Fox News informed.
The Catholic Democrat from California claimed that several Republicans, including Newt Gingrich, the former House Speaker and William Barr, former Attorney General has also violated the Catholic Church beliefs, but they have not been denied Communion like the pro-choice Democrats. Lieu stated that this hypocrisy might doom the church membership.
Lieu also challenged the Church to deny him Communion over his support of abortion access, divorce rights, same-sex marriages and infertility treatments.
