Weeks-Long Manhunt Ends with Recapturing of Escaped Brazilian Convict

Pennsylvanian state police said on social media that it managed to recapture convicted murderer, Brazilian Danelo Cavalcante, who escaped from a Pennsylvania jail last month and eluded for weeks the expanding manhunt.

After he broke out of Chester County Prison on August 31 while waiting to be transferred from the county lockup to a state correctional institution, Cavalcante was recaptured on Wednesday in the suburbs west of Philadelphia.

Before he escaped, he was to begin serving a life sentence after his conviction earlier in August for the brutal killing of a former girlfriend.

Cavalcante tried to contact several people – including his sister- for their assistance during his flight but no one helped him and his sister was later arrested for an immigration violation.
