Biden to Take Action if Senate Won’t Tackle Clean Energy and Climate Change

Friday’s warning from President Biden on the need for clean energy and climate change was accompanied by the statement that if the Senate does not take action, he will take bold executive action to meet this moment adding that he will not back down, Fox News informed.

Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., allegedly stated that he will not back a measure before November’s midterm elections if it contains any provisions on energy and climate change, prompting the president’s remarks.

Before the election, Democrats had intended to approve a comprehensive package.

In a radio appearance on Friday, Manchin responded to the reports and said he would postpone making a decision until after the July inflation data is out in August.

Action on climate change and clean energy is needed now more than ever, according to Biden. He continued that if the Senate won’t take action to address the climate issue and support the domestic clean energy economy, he will take bold executive action to meet this moment.

The president said that his steps will “combat climate change,” “create jobs, improve the energy security, strengthen local manufacturing and supply networks, and safeguard us from future oil and gas price spikes.”

Before the August recess, the president pleaded with the Senate to “go forward” and pass the bill “and get it to his desk so that he can sign it.”

As the country struggles with the greatest inflation rates in more than 40 years, Biden said the plan will not only lower the price of prescription pharmaceuticals and health care for families but also reduce the deficit and assist battle inflation.
