Stacey Abrams, a Democratic hopeful for the 2022 Georgia gubernatorial race, was urged by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp on Thursday to resign from the radical organization that supports defunding the police, Fox News informed.

Abrams sits on the board of the grantmaking organization called Marguerite Casey Foundation, with offices in Seattle that has advocated for the abolition of law enforcement.

Shortly after joining the group’s board, Abrams backed an expanded anti-police movement.

According to Reagan McCarthy, deputy communications director for Kemp’s campaign, Abrams is lying about her own record on public safety — a record that is absolutely out-of-touch with Georgians.

McCarthy said that Abrams has earned more than $50,000 from the organization and currently sits on the board of a charity that supports the Defund the Police movement.

McCarthy continued that her campaign may be attempting to cover up her background, but her record is painfully obvious at every turn.

She should resign from her post with the Marguerite Casey Foundation and reject the radical Defund the Police tactics, which put officers and their families in danger, if she genuinely supports law enforcement in Georgia.

Requests for response from the Abrams campaign were not immediately answered.

Kemp’s request that Abrams leave the extreme anti-police group comes in the wake of many reports on Fox News Digital about her affiliation with the foundation.

According to a recent story by Fox News Digital, the Marguerite Casey Foundation has frequently expressed support for eliminating and defunding the police.

The foundation’s president and CEO, Carmen Rojas, chaired an event in early February called “Becoming Abolitionists—A History of Failed Police Reforms & Vision for True Public Safety.”

Additionally, the organization has given millions of dollars to professors and researchers that support the elimination of prisons and anti-capitalist ideologies.

According to a separate story from Fox News Digital, Abrams supported an expanded anti-police push by the organization.
