Senator Roy Blunt said on Sunday that if ex-President Donald Trump is the Republican nominee in 2024, he will certainly support him.
While Blunt stated on NBC’s “Meet The Press” that he won’t be part of the political world by the time the elections roll up, he would most likely always vote for the nominee, The Hill reports.
Trump, who continues to wield considerable power inside the GOP, has not issued an official announcement but has alluded to candidacy in 2024.
Last year, Blunt, who has been in the Senate since 2010, declared that he will not seek reelection in 2022.
Blunt was not one of the seven senators who voted to convict Trump after the former president’s impeachment in the House for his claimed part in encouraging the riots at the US Capitol on January 6. In the end, the conviction vote was not enough.
Blunt stated on Sunday that he will vote for the nominee of the GOP in 2024.
