University of Virginia Compensated CRT Advocate with $500 per Minute

Giving a one-hour lecture pays roughly half of what the typical American citizen earns in one year for a notable anti-capitalist, Fox News informed.

Ibram X. Kendi, a controversial author and proponent of the critical race theory (CRT), reportedly received almost $500 per minute to make a speech at the University of Virginia in April 2021.

The University of Virginia compensated Kendi with $32,500 to moderate an hour-long conversation on racial fairness, an agreement acquired by the Daily Wire shows.

Statista shows that the average yearly wage in the United States in 2020 was around $71,456.

The amount paid by the University of Virginia to the anti-capitalist advocate is $541 per minute.

The completely free lecture, which was sponsored by Penguin Random House Speakers Bureau, gathered 876 people on April 21, 2021.

According to Brian Coy, a spokesperson for the University of Virginia, the school always welcomes figures from different segments each year and pays them some fees or some other type of compensation. He also said that it is crucial that their university is open to speakers from diverse backgrounds and with different points of view, and that this is an essential part of their academic mission.

Young America’s Foundation, a conservative student organization, told the Daily Wire that it is “unaccustomed” to conservative speakers being welcomed to campus and that it is “disgraceful” that the university paid “such a hateful character” to come and give a speech.

A request for comment from Fox News about conservative speakers being welcomed to the school was not immediately returned by the University of Virginia.

Kendi stated in an Atlantic essay last year that there is “no argument” about the veracity of the CRT, which supports the view that the US is intrinsically and chronically racist, and that capitalism is racist as well.

Republican critics, Kendi added, have created an “invented monster.”
