Former President Donald Trump attended a Save America event in Texas on Saturday night, where he took aim at various Democrats and hinted at a 2024 presidential run by declaring that if he runs and wins, he will provide “pardons” to his followers who stormed the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, Fox News informed.
Trump attended the event in Conroe, Texas, at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds and addressed the thousands of supporters that were present, including Governor of Texas Greg Abbott and Attorney General of Texas Ken Paxton.
A little more than a year ago, rioters plowed through police perimeters and breached the US Capitol, occupying it for several hours, forcing lawmakers to vacate the building and briefly halt the certification of the Electoral College results.
According to CBS News, the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia has charged over 700 persons around the country for their alleged involvement in the incident, including at least 81 current or former service members.
Approximately 275 Capitol riot suspects have been charged with attempting to “corruptly disrupt, influence, or delay” Electoral College certification, while over 530 defendants have still to face trial.
Later in the event, Trump slammed President Biden for preparing to send soldiers to Europe to help defend Ukraine against a possible Russian assault, saying the US border should take first.
