US Delivers Cargo With Logistics to Base in Syria

US service members delivered a cargo of logistics to a military base under their control in the Syrian province of Haseke, SANA reported this on Thursday, citing local sources.

According to the agency, 40 cargo vehicles crossed from neighboring Iraq to Syria. The convoy has proceeded towards the American base in the Rumeilan area in the northeast of Haseke.

Most of the Syrian provinces of Haseke, Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa, located in the east and northeast of the country, are currently controlled by the US-backed Kurdish Democratic Forces of Syria (SDF).

Since 2015, the American command has established nine military bases in the area. Four of them are located near the oil fields in Deir ez-Zor, and five more in the neighboring province of Hassek.

At the end of 2019, then-US President Donald Trump approved a plan. Several hundred American troops will remain in Syria. One of the main tasks will be to ensure control over oil fields in the northeast and east of the country.

In Damascus, the US military presence is viewed as an illegal occupation, accompanied by the plunder of natural resources belonging to the Syrian people.
