In a speech at the National Conservatism Conference, the Missouri Republican suggested that men are turning more to porn and games because of efforts to combat toxic masculinity.

Completely neglecting to understand the meaning of the term “toxic masculinity,” Hawley claimed that efforts against it are actually attacks on traditional masculinity.

The bizarre speech offered zero evidence or sources, but did manage to include a lot of finger-pointing and blame for the crisis he believes is occurring.

The first-term Senator said we should not be surprised that men are “withdrawing into the enclave of idleness”, again offering no statistics for this supposed withdrawal. He also included no research or sources for an increase in porn consumption, or video game consumption.

The Senator said that the left is trying to bring about “a world beyond men.” He also claimed that boys are “increasingly treated like an illness in search of a cure” by American culture.

His list of woes did not end there. He also tied the supposed death of masculinity to issues including unemployment, people marrying at later ages, and the preservation of liberty.

Listing traits including courage, independence and assertiveness, Hawley claims feminism wants to define these virtues as a dangers.

He continued that these qualities are the highest standard of manhood, and while some women may possess them, “these virtues are the bright side of the aggression and competitiveness and independence that psychologists, no less than philosophers, have long observed in men.” Once again, he failed to include any sources for this statement.

Hawley is a notorious Donald Trump supporter who raised a fist in support of the mob outside of the Capitol during the Jan. 6 insurrection. Hawley was also one of seven who voted to throw out the results of the 2020 election.

His speech at the Convention in Orlando, Florida, echoed points made by the Proud Boys, who were a huge part of the Jan. 6 insurrection. The far-right group staunchly opposes feminism and tends to indulge in long rants about how men are under attack.
