Republican Senator Tim Scott from South Carolina stated that he is very disappointed that his Democrat colleagues stepped away from the negotiating table while the discussion on the bipartisan police reform was still ongoing, Fox News informed.
Although the progress of the negotiations was slow, there were some agreements reached mainly on prohibiting chokeholds, stopping the transfer of military equipment to the police forces, and investing more money into the mental health programmes.
Scott issued a statement in which he said that due to the walking away of some of his Democratic colleagues, crime will now start to rise and the safety will decline, which will in turn persuade many officers to leave the force.
