NATO to Continue Cooperation with Afghanistan after Troop Withdrawal

The Afghan Foreign Ministry informed on Tuesday about the further cooperation after the international troop’s withdrawal from the country discussed by the Afghan Foreign Minister Mohammad Haneef Atmar and NATO’s Senior Civilian Representative for Afghanistan Stefano Pontecorvo.

Minister Atmar welcomed NATO intention to continue its diplomatic presence in Afghanistan and its training cooperation, particularly of Afghan Special Forces, praising at the same time NATO’s cooperation with Afghanistan over the last 20 years.

Pontecorvo emphasized the importance of its diplomatic presence in Afghanistan and of continuing international development assistance, proposing to establish training academy for Afghan defence and security personnel and administer airports in the country.
