According to US President Biden’s special envoy for climate, John Kerry, Saudi Arabia is devoted to the efforts to stimulate the transition to renewable energy, Arab News informed.
Kerry put an emphasis on the green hydrogen initiative in the cross-border mega-city called NEOM, located in the Tabuk province in Northwestern Saudi Arabia, saying it is a significant asset to the transition.
The $5 billion-worth venture to create the planet’s largest green hydrogen facility is a partnership between NEOM, United States’ Air Products & Chemicals as well as Saudi’s ACWA Power.
The Special Envoy’s remarks arrive as he visited three countries in the region: Saudia Arabia, UAE, and Egypt. The trip marked his second official visit in the region in recent months, in the wake of a year characterized by Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary General as crucial for taking a firm stand against the global climate emergency.
