California Increases Gasoline Tax, Price Now above 50 Cents for Gallon

gas prices go up

The State of California has raised its gas tax on Thursday, although the cost of one gallon of gasoline in this pacific country is more than $1 over the national average cost, Fox News informed.

The raised margin is pretty small and amounts to six-tenths of a cent, but forges the already highest gas tax in the country to 51.1 cents.

The average price for a gallon of gas is $4.28, which is higher than the $3.10 across the other parts of the US, AAA informed.

The increase is part of the road repair legislation that California approved in 2017 that raises gas taxes and fees for vehicle registrations in order to pay for road and bridge repairs.

The tax is raised according to the California Consumer Price Index.
