DOJ Shuts Down Criminal Investigation of Bolton over his Book

US Department of Justice on Wednesday dismissed a lawsuit that asked to seize the profits from a bestseller book whose author is John Bolton, in which he describes his mandate as national security advisor to Donald Trump, CNBC informed.

The Department of Justice also informed John Bolton that it will shut down the investigation that was aimed at revealing if he committed a crime by disclosing some information that were classified, according to the statement from the office of Bolton.

Bolton’s book “The Room Where it Happened” which was published in 2020, harshly criticized former President Donald Trump.

The statement also said that this action completely vindicates Ambassador Bolton and repudiates the attempt of Trump to first halt the publication of the book and when that did not hold in court, to criminalize Bolton.

The statement also noted that former President Trump even admitted that he wanted to halt the book’s publication before the election citing political reasons.
