Biden, Putin Discuss Possible Prisoner Swap on Summit in Geneva

US President Joe Biden said that he and Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, discussed over the fate of US nationals that are detained in Russia, during their Geneva summit on Wednesday, CNBC informed.

On the press conference Biden said that they talked about that matter and that they will follow through with that talks, adding that he is not going to just walk away from that easily.

Putin, on the other hand, did not give any details about a possible prisoner transfer but pointed that the talks on this issue would proceed.

Antony Blinken, the Secretary of State, had previously mentioned that a prisoner swap issue would be brought up for discussion during Putin-Biden summit.

The Secretary of State in May urged Moscow to release Paul Whelan and Trevor Reed, former US Marines, who are serving prison sentences in Russia, according to the State Department readout from discussions with Sergey Lavrov, the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation.
