The bipartisan infrastructure strategy got the support of 11 Republican Senators, which is enough for the potential legislation to pass the chamber, CNBC informed.
The nearly $1 trillion proposal that will not increase taxes on companies and wealthy individuals was backed by 21 Democratic and Republican Senators. The strategy is also aimed at revamping transportation, water and broadband, but would probably not get support from Democrats whose goals are investment in social programs and clean energy.
The senators said that they are eager to start working with colleagues from both sides of the aisle in order to develop legislation that will be have this framework as a base, and address US critical infrastructural challenges.
The strategy is on of the last efforts of a bipartisan infrastructure agreement before Democrats decide to adopt legislation by themselves. A small group consisted of 10 senators who assembled this plan trying to get support on Capitol Hill, but has yet to earn the backing of leaders in the Congress and White House.
