US, Saudi Arabia Agree Climate Cooperation

Saudi Arabia and the United States have agreed on cooperation in the field of climate, as the two countries will look to implement the Paris Agreement and facilitate the G20 in Italy and the UN Conference on Change climate in Glasgow.

The parties reaffirmed the importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to new conditions during the 2020s to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.

Saudi Arabia and the US also reaffirmed their intention to actively support and engage on a bilateral basis within the environmental programs of Saudi Arabia and the Middle East in general, including in the areas of clean energy, agriculture, and land use.

The countries agreed to intensify their efforts to tackle methane emissions and develop clean energy and carbon capture and storage technologies.

In addition, the parties intend to cooperate in the field of hydrogen energy and renewable energy sources.
