With less than a week before the summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Geneva, former U.S. president Donald Trump trolled his successor Joe Biden wishing him good luck and encouraging him to stay awake.
In a barbed message on Thursday, Trump wished Biden good luck to in dealing with President Putin, reminding him no to fall asleep during the meeting and sending Putin his warmest regards.
During last year’s presidential campaign Trump nicknamed Biden “Sleepy Joe” – among his other nicknames like “1% Joe”, “Basement Biden”, and “Beijing Biden” – and repeatedly claimed he was in mental decline.
Biden’s meeting with Putin is scheduled next week and Moscow has described its as very important, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov cautioning that no one should have high hopes about its outcome.
Trump also reminisced about his 2018 meeting with Putin in Helsinki calling it great and very productive and one in which the U.S. won much, including the respect of President Putin and Russia despite the belated Fake News portrayal of what happened by U.S. spies and media.
“Because of the phony Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, made-up and paid for by the Democrats and Crooked Hillary Clinton, the United States was put at a disadvantage-a disadvantage that was nevertheless overcome by me,” Trump said.
The part about it being made-up and paid for by the Democrats and Crooked Hillary Clinton was a reference to the notorious and entirely unsubstantiated dossier compiled by a British spy Christopher Steele and paid by Clinton’s campaign. The media used Steele Dossier to claim Trump was a Russian agent while FBI used it to obtain a series of FISA warrants to spy on Trump’s campaign via aide Carter Page.
Trump pointed it was the obvious choice for him to believe Russia over former U.S. intelligence officials from the Obama era like Comey, McCabe, Brennan, Clapper and numerous other people he called sleazebags and lowlifes.
As a reminder, James Comey was the FBI director at the time with Andrew McCabe as his deputy while key figures in the FBI’s investigation of Trump, dubbed ‘Crossfire Hurricane’, were agent Peter Strzok and attorney Lisa Page, who were also behind the trumped-up investigation of Trump’s first national security adviser Michael Flynn.
The infamous intelligence community assessment that claimed Russia had interfered in the 2016 U.S. presidential election was compiled by James Clapper, the director of National Intelligence, who worked closely with CIA Director John Brennan.
Trump’s snarky wishes to Biden came after the president’s meeting with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Thursday.
