Gretchen Whitmer, the Governor of Michigan, issued an apology on Sunday after a photo shared on social media showed her disregarding the social distance measures that are still in force, Fox News informed.
Whitmer is also facing an ethics complaint after she allegedly accepted a discounted trip with a private jet going to Florida, while fiercely ordering other residents not to leave the state.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the photo showed Whitmer along with other people at The Landshark Bar & Grill, located in East Lansing. The paper stated that the Governor and the people around her did not wear masks and the social distancing rule was disregarded.
In a statement for the paper, Whitmer acknowledged her behavior saying that she was with friends at the restaurant and because more and more people arrived the tables were pushed closer every time. She did not stop to think of the situation, because she and her friends were all vaccinated, but she apologized and confirmed that she made a mistake.
