Newsom, who is faced with a recall vote in fall, initiated by Republicans who blasted his Covid-19 restrictions, is not limited on the amounts of money he is allowed to raise. However, according to the campaign laws, his challengers can go up to $32,400 in their direct accounts.

According to Politico, the state law sees issue in his defense of the recall, and not a run for office, which is why he is not limited in terms of raising donations.

Hastings, as well as his wife, donated $29,600 and $32,400 to the California Governor’s campaign.
