St. Louis lawyer Mark McCloskey who brandished rifle confronting Black Lives Matter protesters outside his home last year is running for the U.S. Senate as a Republican, New York Post learns.
McCloskey joins GOP primary election run against state Attorney General Eric Schmitt and former governor Eric Greitens, who lost office post in 2018 over allegations of campaign finance violations and sexual misconduct.
McCloskey said on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Tuesday that he has always been a Republican, but never a politician, and pointed that God came knocking on his door last summer disguised as an angry mob.
He and his wife Patricia made national headlines last year on June 28 when they drew their guns at Black Lives Matter protesters as they marched past their McCloskeys’ home, but also drew the attention of Former President Donald Trump.
McCloskey says in his campaign announcement video that just like he took a stand against the mob that came to destroy his house and kill his family, he’s now asking for the privilege to take that stand for all of them.
He pointed that people in this country are sick and tired of cancel culture, the poison of critical race theory and the big lie of systemic racism, backed up by the threat of mob violence, and they don’t want any more poseurs and egotists and career ‘all talk’ politicians going to DC.
After that, he was invited to speak at last year’s Republican National Convention and although he and his wife were indicted last October on charges of unlawful use of a weapon and evidence tampering in connection with the incident, Missouri Republican Gov. Mike Parson has already pledged to pardon them if they are convicted of any criminal offenses.
