The Federal Bureau of Investigation is launching a probe aimed at discovering if Sen. Susan Collins’s Campaign from 2020 has been illegally sponsored by US defense contractor, Fox News informed.
Members of the FBI investigated devices that belonged to Martin Kao, former CEO of Navatek, a Hawaii defense contractor. They are in pursuit of proofs that Kao tried to funnel illegal contributions in order to help Collins’s campaign.
The FBI also confiscated phones that belonged to Kao and his colleague Clifford Chen.
The agents of the FBI request the warrant, saying that the possess evidence that Kao paid back family members and friends circa $45,000 in donations, which were funnelled directly to Collins’ campaign. This operation is in violation of the federal law that prohibits donations which are made in the name of another people.
