RON’S COMMENT: Today’s average is based on five polls, ranging from 48% (Rasmussen) to 59% (Reuters, The Hill). Without these extremes it would be 54%…. Biden’s disapproval rating averages 42% today (+2 from yesterday).

RON’S COMMENT: Half the voters in the NYC Democratic primary remain undecided, according to this poll. Numbers for the top four candidates are much lower than this poll showed in late January; the others are stuck at 2%. McGuire is the only one moving up, and that’s from 2% to 4%…. Incumbent Mayor Bill de Blasio is term-limitedand can’t run again…. Party primaries are June 22 and the general election is Nov. 2; ranked-choice voting will be used.

RON’S COMMENT: Note that nearly two out of five voters say both are equally important…. 5% of Democrats, 40% of Republicans and 27% of independents say the right of people to own guns is more important…. 62% of Democrats, 10% of Republicans and 27% of independents say protecting people from gun violence is more important…. The groups most likely to say protecting people from gun violence are African Americans and White women who are college grads…. The group most likely to say the right of people to own guns are White men who are not college grads.

RON’S COMMENT: 79% of Democrats, 26% of Republicans and 40% of independents say they want to make gun laws stricter.
