Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation are blaming the United States for refusing a proposal to hold a live-broadcast video conference between President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and with that hurting the relations between the two countries, informed The Hill.
“We regret to note that American side has not supported the proposal made by President of Russia Vladimir Putin to US President Joe Biden to Hold live-broadcast discussion on March 19 or 22, 2021, n the problems that have accumulated in bilateral relations, as well as on the subject of strategic stability,” it’s said in a statement made by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“One more opportunity has been missed to find a way out of the deadlock in Russian-US relations created through the fault of Washington. Responsibility for this lies entirely with the United States,” is written in the statement.
Asked about the proposal, President Biden gave, what can be understood as a cold answer, saying “I’m sure we’ll talk at some point.”
Compared with the former President Trump, Biden showed that he would tighten the policy with Russia, first by answering positively on a question did he believe that President Putin is a killer, and saying that sanctions on Russia will “come in time.”
He also warned Putin that he will “pay a price” for his involvement in the operations for undermining his election campaign in 2020, in an interview on March 17.
During a video conference broadcasted on the national television, Putin responded to Biden by wishing him a “good health.”
“What would I tell him? I would say ‘stay healthy.’ I wish him good health. I am saying this without irony or joking,” said Putin.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has withdrawn the Russian ambassador in the United States after Biden’s comments, saying in a statement that the decision was made “in order to analyze what needs to be done in the context of relations with the United States.”
