TRUMP JOB APPROVAL: AVERAGE 44%

RON’S COMMENT: Today’s average is based on six polls, ranging from 38% (Quinnipiac) to 50% (Rasmussen). Without these two extremes, it would still be 44%…. President Trump’s disapproval rating averages 53% today (same as yesterday), which is 9 points higher than his approval rating.

TRUMP VS. GENERIC DEMOCRAT

If the election for president were held today with Donald Trump as the Republican running against a Democratic Party candidate, who would you vote for? 

Democratic candidate: 48%

RON’S COMMENT: Note that 48% for the generic Democrat is the same percentage received by Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Trump’s 41% is 5 points below his actual vote in 2016…. In this poll, 89% of Democrats say they will vote for the Democratic candidate and 82% of Republican voters say they will vote for Trump…. Also: 24% of independents vote for the Democrat and 33% vote for Trump––and 40% of independents are either not sure or say they would not vote…. The Democrat beats Trump by 16 points among women and Trump carries men by 5 points.

NORTH KOREA

RON’S COMMENT: More U.S. voters think the summit was more for show than an important step toward peace. 16% of Democrats and 67% of Republicans say it was an important step.

RON’S COMMENT: 8% of Democrats and 39% of Republicans say it was successful…. Also in the poll, only 15% of voters say that Trump got what he wanted out of the meeting and 26% say North Korea got what it wanted.
