Trump Defends His Son on Twitter

President Donald Trump in a series of tweets defended his son Donald Trump Jr. for lying about the Trump Tower meeting which was meant to gather information on Hillary Clinton.

The tweets indicate that Trump is worried for his son who may be implicated in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

“Fake News reporting, a complete fabrication, that I am concerned about the meeting my wonderful son, Donald, had in Trump Tower,” the President tweeted.

“This was a meeting to get information on an opponent, totally legal and done all the time in politics – and it went nowhere. I did not know about it!” he added.

“We primarily discussed a program about the adoption of Russian children that was active and popular with American families years ago,” read a statement last year by Trump Jr., a statement dictated by the President.

Trump’s Sunday tweets are referring to CNN and Washington Post stories published Saturday, both of which reported that he is becoming increasingly anxious about his son’s legal fate.

One adviser told the Post that the President does not believe his son intentionally broke the law, but that he may inadvertently end up in Mueller’s crosshairs.

CNN wrote that Trump has increased his attacks on Mueller in recent weeks over concerns the investigation may reach his family.

Trump also wrote two more tweets attacking the Mueller investigation by using his most common criticisms, calling investigators “17 angry Democrats,” and questioning why they aren’t investigating the FBI or Department of Justice.

“…Why aren’t Mueller and the 17 Angry Democrats looking at the meetings concerning the Fake Dossier and all of the lying that went on in the FBI and DOJ? This is the most one-sided Witch Hunt in the history of our country. Fortunately, the facts are all coming out, and fast!”

“Too bad a large portion of the Media refuses to report the lies and corruption having to do with the Rigged Witch Hunt – but that is why we call them FAKE NEWS!”
