Trump May Soon Be Interviewed by Mueller

President Donald Trump’s legal team has been notified by special counsel Robert S. Mueller that his office will probably seek an interview with the president. This has made Trump’s attorneys look for a legal way to avoid the interview or limit the session, according to two people familiar with the talks, as reported by The Washington Post.

Mueller also raised this issue during a meeting with Trump’s lawyers in December. The special counsel’s team could interview Trump on a limited portion of questions in the next several weeks.

Ty Cobb the White House lawyer, who is overseeing the administration’s response to the Mueller investigation, said that “the White House does not comment on communications with the OSC out of respect for the OSC and its process.”

“The White House is continuing its full cooperation with the OSC in order to facilitate the earliest possible resolution,” Cobb continued.

Cobb on several occasions said that all interviews of White House personnel are on schedule and will be completed early this year, adding that he is confident that any portion of the investigation related to President Trump or the White House will end shortly.

Trump’s legal team are asking for a meeting with Mueller’s in order to discuss what kind of questions will be asked in the interview.

This Saturday Trump was asked if he had agreed to be interviewed by Mueller.

“Just so you understand, there’s been no collusion, there’s been no crime, and in theory, everybody tells me I’m not under investigation. Maybe Hillary Clinton is, I don’t know, but I’m not,” Trump told reporters at Camp David. “But we have been very open. We could have done it two ways. We could have been very closed, and it would have taken years. But you know, sort of like when you’ve done nothing wrong, let’s be open and get it over with,” President Trump said.

“Because, honestly, it’s very, very bad for our country. It’s making our country look foolish. And this is a country that I don’t want looking foolish. And it’s not going to look foolish as long as I’m here,” he continued.
