U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday bashed the media coverage of his administration officials while hinting that there are possible staff changes. Trump’s remarks come a day after his former campaign aide Sam Nunberg gave a series of interviews that shocked Washington.
According to The Hill, in his morning tweet, Trump criticized “fake news narrative” that describes his White House as chaotic and prone to resignations while mentioning he still has some people on his staff that he wants “to change.”
“The new Fake News narrative is that there is CHAOS in the White House. Wrong! People will always come & go, and I want strong dialogue before making a final decision. I still have some people that I want to change (always seeking perfection). There is no Chaos, only great Energy!” Trump tweeted.
Nunberg spread panic around Washington on Monday when he appeared in a series of network interviews, causing headaches for the White House by claiming that the president knew about a 2016 meeting in Trump Tower between a Russian lawyer and Donald Trump Jr. as well as publicly battling special counsel Robert Mueller over a subpoena to testify in the ongoing Russia probe.
Meanwhile, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders denied the former campaign aide’s allegations on Monday, saying that they are evidence of a “lack of knowledge.”
“I definitely think he doesn’t know that for sure because he’s incorrect,” Sanders said. “As we said many times before, there was no collusion with the Trump campaign. Anything further on what his actions are — he hasn’t worked at the White House. I can’t speak to him or the lack of knowledge that he clearly has.”
However, despite saying on Monday that he would not comply with Mueller’s subpoena, Nunberg looks like he changed his mind when on Tuesday he told the Associated Press, “I’m going to end up cooperating with them.”
