Scarborough Says Trump Made Man Accused of Beating Up Two Women to Appear as Victim

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough on Monday said that he is shocked by President Donald Trump’s statements when he addressed the ongoing domestic violence scandals in the White House.

Scarborough said that Trump comments regarding former White House staffer Rob Porter spun the story and made the man accused of beating up two women to appear as he is the victim.

“Two or three phrases just stand out and they really are shocking,” Scarborough added. “’This is a tough time for him,’ the President’s words. ‘It’s a very sad time, very sad time for him. We wish him very well in the future.’ Again, unbelievable.”

“The President in those comments made the man accused of beating up two women the victim,” he concluded.

Porter on Wednesday resigned his position as White House staff secretary, although statements from White House officials defended Porter’s character praising him for doing a great work during his time in the White House.

His ex-wife Colbie Holderness also revealed photographs of a black eye on her face that she received from Porter while the then coupe being on vacation in Italy.

According to The Hill, Trump did not mention the two abused women to offer any sympathy but instead, Trump said to the reporters at the White House that he hopes Porter has a wonderful career moving forward while noting the former aide had contended he was innocent.

“We wish him well, he worked very hard,” Trump said.

“We found out about it recently and I was surprised by it, but we certainly wish him well, and it’s a tough time for him. He did a very good job when he was in the White House. And we hope he has a wonderful career, and he will have a great career ahead of him.”

“It was very sad when we heard about it, and certainly he’s also very sad,” Trump continued.

“Now he also, as you probably know, he says he’s innocent. And I think you have to remember that. He said very strongly yesterday that he’s innocent. So you’ll have to talk to him about that. But we absolutely wish him well, he did a very good job while he was at the White House.”
