According to a new poll, Oprah Winfrey will be able to beat President Donald Trump in 2020 elections. Although she will win over Trump the majority of the voters expressed that they don’t actually want her to be running for office.
The poll was conducted by an NPR/PBS NewsHour/ Marist and shows that 50 percent of the voters think that Oprah will win, while 39 percent are on the Trump side.
The Hill reports that the majority of those taking the poll stated that they have no interest in seeing Winfrey, the founder of OWN and star of the upcoming film, “A Wrinkle in Time,” trade the media world for the political ring. Fifty-four percent of the 1,350 adults surveyed said they wouldn’t want to see Winfrey run for president in 2020.
In another aspect, 40 percent of the Democrats polled expressed they will be against Winfrey to be the 2020 candidate, on the other hand, 77 percent of Republicans opposed any potential campaign.
The whole noise about Oprah Winfrey running for President against Trump in 2020 started after she delivered an inspirational speech at the Golden Globe Awards. The speech centered around the #MeToo movement, and raised the issue of the many sexual misconducts acts done by a powerful man in the entertainment and the political world.
“For too long, women have not been heard or believed if they dared to speak their truth to the power of those men,” Winfrey addressed the audience while accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the ceremony in Los Angeles. Adding at the end of the speech, “But their time is up. Their time is up!”
Winfrey has not commented anything on these talks and remained silent throughout the week.
Gayle King, who is Oprah’s best friend, earlier this week stated that Winfrey is intrigued by the idea of being a President. King the next day added that she does not really think that Winfrey is actually considering this.
