Trump’s Approval Rating Hits New Low

President Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 38%, compared to 58% who disapproved of his job performance, the new NBC News/The Wall Street Journal poll shows and this is a new low for the president. The previous low in the same poll was marked in May. The approval rating back then was 39%, but Trump has sunk even lower in other polls.

“This is his worst showing of his young presidency so far,” said Democratic pollster Fred Yang of Hart Research Associates, who conducted this survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff and his team at Public Opinion Strategies.

The drop has come from independents, whites, and whites without a college degree, NBC News reports.

Trump has also seen a decline in his personal rating. Around 36% have a positive opinion about him, while 54% negative. Back in September, his score was 39% positive and 49% negative.

The poll of 900 adults was conducted over four days last week and it doesn’t bring good news for the president.

Only 35 percent approve Trump’s handling of his role as a commander in chief. About 34 percent approve president’s handling of North Korea and 33 percent approve his handling of the mass shooting in Las Vegas. About 30 percent approve his handling of NFL players protesting during the National Anthem. Only 29 percent of the respondents agree with Trump’s handling of the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. About 27 percent approve his handling of health care and 24 percent approve Trump’s handling of the Iran nuclear deal.

Nearly half of registered voters in the poll, or 48%, said they want the Congress to be controlled by the Democrats, while 41% want the current Republican majority to stay.

About 46 percent of the respondents have said that their vote in November 2018 will be to send a message for more Democrats to serve as a check and balance to Trump and congressional Republicans, while 28 have said that their vote would be a message for more Republicans to help Trump and congressional Republicans pass their agenda.
