General Joseph Dunford has been confirmed for his second term as head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the highest-ranking military officer in the country, The Hill reports.
Dunford’s fast confirmation was very well-known as he’s highly respected by both the Republicans and Democrats. He has been head of the Joint Chiefs since 2015 when he was nominated by the former President Obama. In May, President Donald Trump nominated him for a second term.
Prior to that, he was the commandant of the Marine Corps from October 2014 to September 2015. And from February 2013 to August 2014, he led U.S. forces and the international coalition in Afghanistan.
